A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of playing at One World Brewing's West Asheville location on a brisk Friday evening. We knew it might be a little chilly but we always jump at the opportunity to play outside, as the sound and atmosphere is just unmatched.
Halfway through the first set and we were bundled up in all of our extra layers and starting to worry about the lack of feeling in our fingers. Luckily for us, our good friend in the area Trey came to see us and brought with him a jacket full of hand warmers. This was one of many small acts of kindness that made the night special.
Local photographer Elliot Schwartz lives right down the road from One World West and decided to come out and take some shots of the band. He ended up sending us his favorite edited shots free of charge and encouraged us to use them however we please. Many of the photos on this site were taken by Elliot at One World.
In addition to the friendly locals, the staff at One World West worked tirelessly to ensure that our heaters, lights, and sound system were all running properly and our glasses remained full throughout the evening (the Citra Bomb IPA was delicious).
Ultimately playing in the cold was a unique challenge that we had not yet faced as a band, but the kindness of those in the the live music community was on full display and kept our fingers and spirits warm. Nights like this remind us of how incredible it is to be a part of a grassroots music scene that works with local businesses. The crisp, starlit air of the Asheville night provided the perfect backdrop for our first outdoor show of the year, and the hospitality of all in attendance has us excited to return to Asheville... especially since it will be warmer next time.
